Member’s Ancestor:  Ira M. Wilson (Great Uncle)

Ancestor’s Regiment:  1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, Company F

Narrative:

Ira M. Wilson was born in 1840 to Thomas and Freelove Wilson.  He enlisted at the age of 20 on October 20, 1861 in Petersburg, Michigan for 3 years.  He was mustered in at Detroit, Michigan on December 6 or 11, 1861, into Company F, 1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics.
    
He left sick February 20, 1862 at Lebanon, Kentucky.  He entered General Hospital Lebanon, Kentucky and died on April 5, 1862 of general debility (weakness).  He was buried in the Lebanon Cemetery and later moved to the Lebanon National Cemetery in 1867.  (Section 1 grave # 42)
    
 The 1st Michigan E&M fought at Mill Springs Ky. in January of 1862.
